Summerlin Neighborhood
If I had to choose where to live, it would be Summerlin. Summerlin is a community in the Las Vegas Valley. It lies at the edge of the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon. Summerlin occupies over 22,500 acres and is alive with more than 250 parks, 150 miles of trails, nine golf courses, more than a dozen public and private schools and a state-of-the-art medical center, and its very own city center.
Downtown Summerlin is a shopping extravaganza. With a 400-acre mixed-use district, 106 acre shopping center with more than 125 shops, bars, and restaurants. Downtown Summerlin also boasts City National Arena where the Vegas Golden Knights NHL franchise team practices. Las Vegas Ballpark is home of the Las Vegas Aviators minor league baseball team where you can enjoy soaking in a hot tub while watching the game.
Local events are always being held in Downtown Summerlin throughout the year, including an annual art festival, outdoor fitness classes, wine walks, holiday festivals and farmers markets.
The Summerlin Trail System is more than 150 miles long and connects local neighborhoods to various amenities throughout the community. Bicycle lanes are provided on most major roads in Summerlin, as well as in the adjacent Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area boasts 26 hiking trails (ranging in difficulty from easy to strenuous).
Interesting note, did you know Summerlin was named after billionaire land developer, Howard Hughes’ Grandmother? Yes, Jean Amelia Summerlin as well as, the Las Vegas Aviators minor league baseball team was named in Hughes’ honor. Now you know the story!
